I'm Home!

I’m home! And have been for four weeks! It is honestly hard to imagine that only last month I was in Orlando, Florida competing with 52 of the most incredible girls in the nation. Often times it did not feel so much as a competition as it did a huge sleepover. For an entire week, God placed girls around me -girls who were inwardly beautiful, confident, and above all else devoted to making a difference. In short, I can hardly wait until January rolls around and I will be reunited with all of them once again.

Coming back home was definitely weird. I was thrown right into my junior year of high school, and everything that goes along with that. The mornings were not as early, and strangely I found myself not rehearsing for nine hours of the day.  I believe I have gotten a taste of what it might be like to visit a parallel dimension. I am still the same girl, but yet I have been changed. My family and friends never left, but I am without 52 who were so close to me. I feel like I am almost making this sound like a sad occasion to mourn. However, it truly is the opposite. I now have an entire library of emotions to last a lifetime. To my successor, you are one lucky gal :)

So what have I been up to since my return to Kansas?

Of course I love my schedule as a junior! My afternoons and weekends have successfully been filled with cross country practices/meets, homework, college scholarship applications, and working to increase awareness of my platform, “ Stranger Danger-The Importance of Internet Safety.” On that note, I have some exciting news! I will be meeting with my principal and an administrator who is involved in my district’s education system to discuss my involvement in spreading the news of safe internet practices! I am looking forward to providing more information later on! I hope everyone is enjoying this cooler weather and getting into the Autumn spirit!“
